As you may have noticed I added some buttons on the bottom of my page. I found the Technorati one on Internet Brain ? Buttons (and converted it to a png ;)
March 2005 Archives
I did a test install of SQL-Ledger today. The install was really easy but I didn't get UTF-8 compatiblity working yet…
Tommorow I'll have a look at linux-kontor and comperiere.
I just forgot to mention that I did show off my blog site in the nucleus forum. ;->
Shouldn't I?
The screenshots of SuSE 9.3 in James' Blog look really nice. And the comments sound very good too. In about half a month I'll see myself…
This is one more item to move from my old site to the blog…
As I'm about to close down my old pages, I need a new place for some things, esp. some old LaTeX packages. The pdfcprot package is found CTAN (but I'm not the maintainer any longer and there's a similar package microtype available too), but my graph paper is not there.
These things are years old, so beware...
I did forgot to change the mail form to my table layout so it looked still cluttered. And a <tr> was missing in the comment form. How did I miss that? ;->
So the skin is finished finally. I had to adjust some things, esp. the comment forms didn't suit me. There I had to change the templates in nucleus' forms dir. Isn't there a better way?
And the second nice thing is, that it was easier than I feared to move this thing online. So here's the way I done it:
- created database with the same name as the database I have to use at my provider,
- set up a virtual server with the same absolute path to the blog as it is on the server,
- set up a new nucleus server,
- imported my skin and all the plugins and left all stuff out not needed (which I tested on my first local installation),
- exported the database with the blog entries of my test side, so you can read some slightly older posts too,
- uploaded the backup using the phpMyAdmin interface of my provider,
- copied the nucleus installation to my webspace.
And even the fancy url stuff works… ;->
I just did a test of my contact form to look if the emails are forwared as intended. But the message got cropped! I'll have to look, if that happens on the page of my company too as this is almost the same code.
OK, I think I finished my BLOG skin. Got a bit more coloured than I thought at first and I don't know how long I'll like it. ;->
I decided to base my skin on Minima. I just started to adapt some things I want to change. Now I need to work on the colours…
Now I did some testing using the original driver of Epson (using a laptop with Win2K)— and I don't see any macrobanding.
So I did some more test printing. This time I did use an evaluation version of turboprint 1.91-2. At least the printer doesn't show the macrobanding, but the overall quality is so bad, that this may not happen with gutenprint as well if I'd care to test gutenprint with such low quality settings.
So I'm not at all impressed with turboprint and I'm not sure yet, whether the macrobanding a hardware problem of my printer or some combination with gutenprint:
I did some additonal test with printing one special image (intended as a Cyanotype negative). Unfortunately I can't get very good quality. As I really don't see any problems in the original I'll almost think now that this is a problem of the printer :-(
I'm struggling with a bug in my programming at work right now. This is really an example, that the heavy threading of LabVIEW can be problematic if you look for bugs caused by breaking the dataflow paradigm.
