Now I did some testing using the original driver of Epson (using a laptop with Win2K)— and I don't see any macrobanding.
But the problem is, that the prints are looking very different. The Epson driver's output is much lighter and more gray while the gutenprint has a green/yellow tint (actually I don't care about that because I calibrated my Cyanotype process to the gutenprint output). So I still don't know wheter I got a hardware problem or a driver problem. Maybe I should test printing with the pips driver, but AFAIR the quality options there're not very sophisticated…
At least the EvenTone raster algorithm of gutenprint gives a very competitve output compared to the Epson driver.
