The new community place for my photos is on ipernity. There's also a blog function integrated, so I assume that most things regarding ipernity go there. It's just that communication is great there much better than on an isolated blog. As it is on the pictures...

Why I did leave flickr? Well, many communication of flickr staff was bad, almost non-existing, lately. Together with a big incident (you'll find sufficient information on ipernity, in blogs and on flickr, if they won't delete the discussions some time) many Germans were persuaded to look for a new home and many found it on a French site called ipernity. I never heard of it before. Its photo functionality is a flickr clone, some features are still missing, some are even advanced.

My flickr account will be deleted eventually. Yahooization of flickr is not revertible in my eyes. When closing Y!Photos Yahoo! clearly showed, what flickr shall become. That means more or less that a community is just wanted, if it keeps quiet to everything -- and pays&helip;

On ipernity all is still very dynamic. Changes are progressing quickly and communication with the staff has been great so far. And they want to know what the users want! I even have a working integration of photo upload for f-spot, just a few minor glitches need to be cleaned before I try to get it into trunk.

The community is quite small esp. compared to flickr, yet. But do you need a community of millions? Even my 200 contacts on flickr were almost too much to follow, not speaking of all the groups that could've been interesting. What's a little bit missing on ipernity is internationality. Mainly Germans switched and mainly French people were already there. But slowly others are following and if only to loose contact to their former flickr friends...

I will cease my activities on flickr completely. I feel a bit sad for a few contacts I'll loose and for "my alternative process group" but I don't have time to be active in two communities and the most important contacts for me switched too. Gladly we didn't fragment too much ;).

Actually I am appalled how many flickrer didn't react to the latest problems... :(

And today came the new moocards with my ipernity address:
